As long as BtVS content is being produced on Livejournal, I have no plans to discontinue the Herald there. At least one of our editors is planning on deleting her personal LJ, so I've taken steps to ensure that all of us can still post to LJ: Any Herald editor can now use the
sd_herald account to post to both
su_herald and
su_editors. If you need the password, let me know, and I'll email or PM it to you.
I am backing up all three communities to Dreamwidth, just in case. Because there's no community crossposting, this means that the DW version of
su_herald will probably end up with several years' worth of duplicate entries, but such is life. I'm also sadly aware that this won't help if the original entries we link to get deleted, but it's all I can think of to do. Since the DW importer is completely slammed at the moment, I expect it will take several days at least to complete the backups.
Since more people are now moving to DW, I have spiffed up the DW version of
sd_herald, which is su_herald_reading. Having a backup reading journal has the advantage that when LJ's RSS feeds are acting up (as they seem to be at the moment) DW's are usually working, and vice versa. It uses the same password as sd_herald (I know, I know...) It now has all the feeds from AO3, FFNet, Tumblr, etc. as well as all the individual journals I could think of which make BtVS posts from time to time. I will be adding more as I run across them. On Dreamwidth, you can also use the Site and Journal Search feature to do keyword searches for "btvs" or "buffy the vampire slayer" or "spuffy" or whatever, and locate relevant posts that way. If you post Buffy-related things on DW, tagging them with "btvs" or "buffy" is the best way to ensure that we can find them easily.
Over the next few days I will be going over the sd_herald reading list on LJ. and winnowing out journals which have been deleted or are inactive, or just don't post BtVS stuff any longer.
I think that's about it.
