I add ?style=mine to the links, well, because when I was writing the macro I just adapted a macro I use for metafandom.

A lot of journals are customised to their owner's specifications and often this can cause accessibility issues for people with poor sight or other disabilities. Also some people on LJ are using alternate interfaces and have special CSS layouts to accomodate those so attaching the argument style=mine is a courtesy for those people.

That's why. But you dislike it. That's ok. Why?

I dislike it because I like seeing fics in their 'natural habitat'. It's a way to discover other people's layouts, colors, icons,... Now I have to click on the link, scroll down to the permalink (it's at the bottom in my layout) and click again. Call me lazy but it's bothering me.

You can always just delete ?style=mine from the address bar. Or volunteer to be a backup editor and do it all your way! Always options, in life.

Plus in LJ, you can choose to view the links from your friends page in your journal style.

Yes. I understand this. However, many people online are not very comfortable or familiar with all the surfing options. And I don't have the time or the energy to teach them.

Yes. As I explained, I adapted the macro from the metafandom one I use. I used to edit the Herald regularly when it first started. I have just parachuted in to cover the regular team while they move house, fix their computers, and generally get on with things in their, you know... lives.

It'd be interesting to have other opinions about it.

Yeah, when I use a different system, ie: no attached arguments, in metafandom, people complain. If I attach arguments here, people complain. It is in the nature of people to complain. You can't make everybody happy. I never try to.

Because even with browser customization, some people's LJ layouts are impossible to read for those of us with vision problems.
